A Tribute to Irio Tommasini
On October 7, 2024, at the age of 91, Irio Tommasini passed away, leaving behind a legacy of passion and craftsmanship in the world of cycling. In 1957, with his visionary talent, he founded Cicli Tommasini, and today we honor his life and the legacy he entrusted us with. We remain committed to carrying forward his dedication to bicycles with the same love and attention to detail that he embodied.

Born in Buriano in 1933, a small village near Grosseto, Tuscany (Italy), Irio devoted his life to the cycling industry, first as an amateur cyclist and then, most notably, as a master bicycle builder. At the age of 14, he was gifted a bicycle by his parents, which he restored completely, already showing signs of his innate talent. He honed this skill while helping his uncles with their business and later refined it further through an apprenticeship in Milan, gradually moving toward the decision to start his own company.
In 1957, he founded the Tommasini company, specializing in custom-made bicycles with the vision of making them symbols of craftsmanship and Made in Italy quality. Within a few years, his business flourished, becoming an icon in the industry. His frames were chosen by numerous cycling champions, and Tommasini quickly established itself as a global leader, with a presence in markets from Japan to the United States and beyond.

Irio personally oversaw the company’s production and marketing until a few years ago, treating it like family. He then passed the torch to his daughters, Barbara and Roberta, who continued his legacy with the same principles and passion. Today, Bike Holding S.r.l., the current management of the company, is committed to preserving and enhancing this prestigious Italian brand, remaining faithful to its artisanal traditions while embracing innovation, just as Irio always did. He was always ready to pursue and realize a new idea!
